Professor Miłosz Jaguszewski, M.D., Ph.D. from the MUG’s 1st Department of Cardiology as one of two Poles received the prestigious European Society of Cardiology (ESC) scholarship. The professor was chosen to participate in the innovative, two-year training program – Servier Advanced Cardiovascular School (SACVS). The second winner is Agnieszka Kapłon-Cieślicka MD, Ph.D. from the Medical University of Warsaw, chairwoman elect of the Club 30 of the Polish Society of Cardiology. The scholarship was funded by the Servier company.
The program objectives are to improve the scientific status, exchange experience between specialists and raise the professional competence of young cardiologists from the members of the European Society of Cardiology. 16 scientists from the ESC have been invited to participate in the program. Due to scientific interests, participants will be assigned into two groups related to invasive cardiology and heart failure.
One of the leaders is Professor Panos Vardas, the former president of ESC and the main mentor of the program. During the two-year course, scholarship holders will actively participate in the program board of ESC congresses, and will also have the opportunity to cooperate with leaders of the European Society of Cardiology. One of the main goals of the program is to create a network of international cooperation of outstanding cardiologists in the fields of interventional cardiology and heart failure, by creating joint scientific projects and publications. Professor Jaguszewski, as part of his activity in the group of interventional cardiologists, will participate in intervention workshops that will take place in leading European institutions. The objective will also be an active cooperation with the structures of the European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions (EAPCI), including participation in works of the largest congress of intervention cardiologists in Europe (EuroPCR) under the supervision of Prof. Panos Vardas.
