The MUG Choir has ‘sung out’ the Golden Medal at the 47th International Choir s and Orchestras Festival Svátky Písní in Olomouc, Czech Republic.
The number of 34 choirs from 9 countries, including the Czech Republic, Poland, Canada, Malaysia and Turkey took part in the competition. Our choir performed in the mixed choir category with a very difficult, diverse repertoire.
In addition to the performance, the Choir took part in the voice emission and interpretation workshops with the chairman of the jury, known composer and conductor, Branko Stark from Croatia.
The Choir, however, does not intend to rest on its laurels. They plan on working really hard before the holiday break, focusing on new exciting projects, the results of which we will all experience in autumn. Specificially, on 2nd – 3rd November, for the first time in Poland, the Choir will perform the Lux Aaterna piece with the contemporary American composer Morten Lauridsen. Theafter, the Choir’s new album with the songs of Henryk Hubertus Jabłoński will have its official premiere. In December the Choir will perform a concert of Polish Christmas carols. The arrangements for the choir, string and orchestra were written specifically for the MUG Choir.
