Star of Internationalisation in the MUG

Dr hab. Sławomir Wójcik, M.D., Ph.D., head of the MUG Admission Office was among the winners of the “Star of Internationalisation” competition organised by the Educational Foundation “Perspektywy”. He won in the category Teaching Star.

Sławomir Wójcik has been actively involved in activities aimed at internationalisation of both the MUG and science in Poland for over fifteen years. The area of his activities includes national and international promotion, recruitment for Polish and English-language studies (head of the MUG Admission Office), didactics at the level preparing for higher education (co-founder and currently the head of the PreMed course), didactics at the higher education level (anatomy and neuroscience ), didactics preparing for nostrification examinations (USMLE exams), administrative support in a multicultural system and activities aimed at obtaining full recognition and accreditation of the Polish university diploma on the international forum. The actions initiated by him resulted in MUG signing scientific and didactic cooperation agreements with Italian Universities in Naples and Palermo – as part of which he has been co-organizing the Summer School of Anatomical Dissection for medical students from Poland and Italy for several years. Being a precursor of activities aimed at ensuring safe study, he undertook work integrating the University, city authorities and state services, and shared his experience as part of spreading “good practices” with representatives of other universities. The evaluation of these activities by English-speaking students was granted to him the “Amicus Studentis” prize, which is the highest form of recognition at the University level. Sławomir Wójcik also belongs to a small group of nationwide experts involved in the comparison of education systems at secondary school level. Huge practice, evaluation of certificates from over 40 countries each year, gives him an insight into current solutions applied in this field. He actively cooperates with student organizations STN (Student Scientific Society), ANSA (Association of Norwegian Students Abroad), SLF (The Swedish Medical Association) conducting integration activities. During the implementation of all these tasks, Sławomir Wójcik has repeatedly demonstrated the ability to cooperate with representatives of Polish and foreign governmental and non-governmental organizations, both in direct contact and taking part in consultations on proposals for solutions regarding the regulation of studies for foreigners. Despite many responsibilities, he is still involved in new projects, and his passion is to learn about other cultures, which he tries to capture in his photographs.

The award ceremony took place on January 17, 2019 in Warsaw, Poland, during the conference “Foreign students in Poland 2019”.
