TriMama charity run “Piątka od serca” was organized by Natalia Wodyńska-Stosik, the founder of the TriMama organization. Everything began with her own painful experience. Nearly 6 years ago, after a successful operation, Natalia left the walls of the Oncology Center in Warsaw cancer free with a feeling of renewed life. In her own words, “I knew I would want to repay the world.” This is her first time organizing a charity run, and with hard work it turned out to be a great success.
The Charity run took place on December 2, 2018, at the intersection of Kurzej and Reduta Wyskok streets in Gdańsk. Multiple students from the Medical University of Gdańsk took part in the run: Hassan Al Qanber, Katarzyna Bogucka, Wojciech Czajkowski, Marlon Souza Luis, Małgorzata Styczewska and Jacob Wojtczuk.
The English Division Pediatric Oncology Scientific Circle had the wonderful opportunity to work with Natalia in the past. Her generosity has been felt in the Pediatric Oncology and Hematology Department with past donations. At the run student volunteers from the Circle had the opportunity to raise money by giving handmade bracelets away. IFMSA graciously donated their time to help take blood glucose levels at the event.
Nearly three hundred runners came out to challenge themselves against the weather. Professional runners, recreational runners, and student a like joined together. The chilly Sunday weather was made warmer with the euphoria of runners and the amazing energy from Natalia. MUG students had an amazing performance in the student category. Runners Jacob Wojtczuk and Wojciech Czajkowski placed 1st and 2nd respectively. Runner Marlon Souza Luis placed 3rd in the expatriate category.
The money collected from the run will be donated in its entirety to the Pediatric Oncology and Hematology Department at the Medical University of Gdańsk.
