Rector of MUG prof. Marcin Gruchała, M.D., Ph.D rewarded Karol Steckiewicz, the 4th year student of Faculty of Medicine. The award was granted on November 7 at the request of prof. Michał Woźniak M.D. Ph.D, academic supervisor of Medical Chemistry Circle. The meeting was also attended by dr hab. Tomasz Smiatacz, M.D., Ph.D., Vice-Rector for Students’ Affairs.
Karol Steckiewicz is author of many scientific articles i.e. “Nerve growth factor as an important component of novel therapy for cancer, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases”, published in Cellular and Molecular Biology (IF 1,32). Moreover, he appeared as a speaker in national and international scientific conferences and received the highest awards five times.
It is worthwhile to mention that he is also the laureate of prof. Kazimierz Ostrowski Prize and the scientific grant manager financed by Cedrob S.A. In July and August 2018 he completed a research internship at the University of Cambridge. He also received a rector’s scholarship for the best student and was a finalist of the Red Rose Award.
