The Emerging Microbes & Infections, a journal belonging to the Nature Publishing Group, published a work of the MUG’s scientists from the Department of Tropical Medicine and Parasitology. "Seroprevalence of TBEV in bank voles from Poland-a long-term approach". is a part of an international biomonitoring bank voles project called PolVole and a result of a research of Maciej Grzybek Ph.D., Beata Biernat Ph.D., and Joanna Stańczak Ph.D. associate professor.

The project was initiated by prof. Jerzy M. Behnke and prof. Anne Bajer in 1999 and is the longest-running monitoring of wild rodents in Central and Eastern Europe. The Medical University of Gdańsk is a part of it among such universities as the University of Nottingham (UK), the University of Warsaw, and the University of Life Sciences in Poznań.
