25 years of Biotechnology in Gdańsk

The Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology (IFB) of the University of Gdańsk (UG) and the Medical University of Gdańsk (MUG)) celebrated its 25 anniversary on June 6, 2018. During the ceremony at the University of Gdańsk, both rectors – Rector of the UG, prof. Jerzy Gwizdala, and Rector of the MUG, prof. Marcin Gruchała delivered speeches and former deans – prof. Wiesław Makarewicz, prof. Jacek Bigda and prof. Ewa Łojkowska brought back good memories. During the celebration of the Jubilee, prof. Wiesław Makarewicz was awarded the title of Honorary Professor, the Gold Medal of the University of Gdańsk and the medal from the President of the City of Gdańsk.

The Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology UG and MUG is one of the best such faculties in Poland, and at the same time the first and only inter-university unit in Poland dealing with the education of full-time students in biotechnology. The Faculty, with the highest A+ category owns a title of the best field of study, it is distinguished by the evaluation of education, excellent programme, staff and scientific achievements.
