Nationwide Competition in Medical Simulation

Eighty-nine participants from 10 Polish medical universities took part in the Nationwide Medical Simulation Competition in the MUG’s Medical Simulation Centre. The competing teams had to solve complex clinical tasks and simulations which included pre-hospital intervention in acute heart failure, procedures in case of a heart attack and need for cardiopulmonary resuscitation, pulmonary edema and asthma, delivery of a baby and surgical treatment of the wound.

The teams were assessed by referees experienced in international competitions. The first place took the team from the Medical University of Lublin, the second place the Jagiellonian University – Collegium Medicum in Kraków, and the third place the Medical University of Poznań. The MUG’s team, under the supervision of Ewa Raniszewska M.D. Ph.D. which consisted of Aleksandra Kuliś, Ksawery Bieniaszewski, Mateusz Otręba, and Marcin Muża took the fourth place.

In between competitions, students participated in ultrasound workshops led by members of the Students’ Scientific Ultrasound Circle led by doc. Wojciech Kosiak.

The competition was organised and carried out by the Medical Simulation Centre’s staff headed by prof. Leszek Bieniaszewski.
