Record number of transplants in the UCC

One hundred twenty-five kidneys were transplanted in 2017 at the University Clinical Centre (UCC) in Gdańsk, which makes the hospital in the first place in the country. Previous achievements in the field of transplantation and plans for the future were discussed at the press conference, which took place in the Invasive Medicine Centre.

The first kidney transplant in Gdańsk was performed in 1980. Since then, in the UCC 1874 kidneys have been transplanted. In 2017, such transplants were performed: 107 bone marrow and peripheral blood, 90 cornea and 50 heart transplants. The hospital is also preparing for lung and liver transplants.
