European champion in alpine skiing from the MUG

Mikołaj Frankiewicz, a Ph.D. student at the MUG’s Department of Urology won the individual European championship in slalom during the European Med Ski CUP 2018 in alpine skiing. The competition took place on 18-21.01.2018 at the Beskid Sport Arena in Szczyrk, Poland. Doctors and dentists from different parts of Europe, including Italy, Slovakia, Germany and Ukraine competed with each other. The main organisers of the Championships were the Polish Chamber of Physicians and Dentists and the Polish Ski Association of Doctors Polskimed. The sports patronage was taken by a president of the Polish Ski Association, Apoloniusz Tajner. A week earlier, Mikolaj Frankiewicz won the Polish Urologists Championship during the annual ski competition organised as part of the Scientific and Training Symposium of Urologists (Polish: XIII Krynicki roZjazd 2018). On 8-11.01.2018, in Krynica Zdrój, Poland, several dozen of urologists fought for the prestigious Winner’s Cup. For the first time in a 13-year history, the cup went to a medical doctor from Gdańsk. In addition, the representatives of the Department of Urology: Marcin Markuszewski M.D. Ph.D., Mikołaj Frankiewicz M.D. and Michał Lotkowski M.D. won the 4th place, just behind the podium.
