The Main Board of the Polish Chemical Society (Polish: Polskie Towarzystwo Chemiczne – PTChem) awarded prof. Piotr Szefer, Head of the MUG’s Department of Bromatology, the Wiktor Kemula medal for outstanding scientific achievements in the field of analytical chemistry. The medal will be presented during the official inauguration of the 61st Congress of Polish Chemical Society, which will be held in Krakow on September 17-21.2018. For the last 20 years the distinction has been awarded to 18 Polish scientists at the joint request of two prestigious scientific bodies: the Polish Chemical Society and the Committee of Analytical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Among the group of professors specialised in the analytical chemistry, Piotr Szefer is the only professor of pharmaceutical sciences. This is the second significant distinction, after the Ignacy Łukasiewicz medal, which was awarded to prof. Szefer last year for outstanding services for Polish pharmacy at the request of the Polish Pharmaceutical Society.
