A group of 50 doctors represented Poland at the immunisation meeting held on 11-14 September in Edinburgh, Scotland. The meeting was organised within the European Society of Immunodeficiencies (ESID) among the MUG’s representatives were prof. Zbigniew Zdrojewski M.D. Ph.D., Hanna Suchanek M.D. Ph.D. and Marcin Ziętkiewicz M.D. Ph.D. from the Department of Internal Medicine, Connective Tissue Diseases and Geriatrics.
Programme of the meeting showed progress in the diagnosis and treatment of primary immunity, including the extremely important role of genetic diagnostics. A clinical picture of this diseases is extremely diverse and patients demonstrate a wide spectrum of symptoms.
After the meeting in Edinburgh another meeting of patients with primary immunodeficiency was held. This time for people treated in the University Clinical Centre in Gdansk. It was organised by the Association for Patients with Immune Deficiency Syndrome „Immunoprotect”. In the forests of Sopot, by the fire and the background guitar, patients. discussed a need for vaccination, new diagnostic methods and treatments.
