The annual congress of European Underwater and Baromedical Society (EUBS) is a meeting dedicated to hyperbaric medicine. This time it was held in Ravenna, Italy, on September 13-16, 2017. This year, President of the EUBS Jacek Kot M.D. Ph.D., Head of the MUG’s Department of Hyperbaric Medicine and Maritime Rescue invited to participate in the meeting President of the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine Society (UHMS), Enoch Huang M.D. The American scientist has introduced clinical practice guidelines for hyperbaric medicine currently being developed in the United States.
Topics covered by the EUBS conference included cellular and molecular Hiperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) effects, new experimental indications for HBOT treatment, evacuation rules from long-term hyperbaric exposures in professional and military dives, as well as organisation of multi-specialty treatment in complicated, difficult to heal wounds.
Jacek Kot presented status of hyperbaric medicine in Europe, including principles of training through clinical practice and comparison of costs of hyperbaric sessions in all European countries compared to other countries in the world.
Another EUBS conference will be held in cooperation with SPUMS (South Pacific Underwater Medicine Society) and SAHUMA (Southern African Underwater Hyperbaric Medical Association) in Durban, South Africa, from 23 to 29 September 2018. For more information visit www.TriCon2018.org.
