12.09.2017

The Medical University of Gdańsk hosted Vice-Rectors for Clinical Affairs of the Polish medical universities. The first meeting, which was organised under the auspices of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Medical Universities, took place on September 11th and gathered representatives of 10 out of 11 national medical schools.

The topics of the meeting were issues related to functioning of clinical hospitals, clarification of their mission and coordination of their work in education and research. In addition, Vice-Rectors discussed possibilities of developing quality of services and implementing innovative solutions in treatment and management, as well as preparation of medical schools as founding bodies of clinical hospitals.

Clinical hospitals are an important part of the health care system in Poland. They serve highly specialised treatment, accepting patients with difficult to diagnose and treat diseases. Clinical hospitals are also very large organisations that participate in undergraduate and postgraduate education of physicians, nurses, midwives, paramedics, physiotherapists and other medical professionals.
