Prof. Chaim Gilon from the Institute of Chemistry at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem was a guest of the Gdansk Branch of the Polish Society of Experimental and Clinical Immunology and the MUG’s Department of Clinical Immunology and Transplantology. During the visit, professor delivered a lecture “Preventing (and reversing) Alzheimer’s and other diseases or how to live longer and healthy life and be happy.”
Professor presented research results on detecting the mechanism that causes Alzheimer’s disease, as well as the illness’ prevention – a healthy lifestyle and diet. After the lecture, Professor answered specific questions from the audience.
Prof. Gilon is a well-known chemist, an outstanding specialist in peptide chemistry, especially in their clinical applications. His research has led to the development of new drugs, including HIV-1 replication inhibitors and rheumatoid arthritis medications. One of the recent interests of prof. Gilon is the molecular basis of memory and his recent publications concern this topic. Prof. Gilon is co-author of more than 270 scientific publications and 40 patents.
