Orbital implant from a 3D printer

An innovative reconstruction of the eye socket using an individual implant was carried out in the Clinic of Orofacial Surgery managed by Barbara Drogoszewska M.D. Ph.D. The patient was a 36-year-old man who had an accident. With the use of 3D printing technology, an individual implant was created. This enabled the correct placement of a significantly moved eyeball, improvement of the vision and facial features. The surgery was performed by Adam Michcik M.D. Ph.D., Adam Polcyn M.D. Ph.D., Michal Rogula (dentist), Tomasz Lammek (anesthesiologist) and instr. Dorota Tomoń.
