The very first Centre for the Treatment of Obesity and Metabolic Diseases in Poland was opened on May 22nd in the MUG. The Centre is a unique bariatric facility where a patient will receive complex medical care of many specialists – qualification for the treatment and preparation for surgery, surgery and postoperative care. The opening of the Centre has been inaugurated during a scientific conference dedicated to the World Obesity Day. Participants of the conference discussed the results of the latest research on obesity in the world and its health implications, as well as the potential for a surgical treatment of obesity. The treatments are performed at the MUG’s Department of General, Endocrine and Transplant Surgery in the FAST TRACK system which focuses on the patient’s full recovery as soon as possible after surgery. Due to minimally invasive methods, the standard procedure enables the patient to be discharged from the hospital the day after the surgery. The patient stays in direct contact with the doctors for the first week after surgery and every day reports them the health condition.
