At the Polish Embassy in Stockholm, Swedish graduates of Polish universities met with prof. Maria Dudziak, Dean of Faculty of Medicine. The purpose of the meeting was to promote studies in Poland. It also gave everybody a chance to exchange experiences, and most importantly – to hear a positive opinion about Poland as a country with a friendly atmosphere towards foreigners. During the first part of the seminar, graduates from Sweden who have completed their studies in Poland and currently work in their profession debated about educational system in Poland. They have experienced a bigger distance in a relation between academic teachers and students while pointing out that this creates conditions for higher requirements and consequently allows them to gain knowledge at a higher level. This was appreciated by employers in Sweden. In all statements there was a good opinion about the possibility of acquiring practical skills during the studies. The graduates shared their experience about a friendly atmosphere for foreigners in Poland. Also, the cost of living was significantly lower than in Sweden, which in turn allowed them to study without having to earn a living.
In the second part of the meeting, three medical Polish universities: the Gdańsk Medical University, the Pomeranian Medical University of Szczecin and the Warsaw Medical University delivered their presentations. It was the first this kind of meeting and turned out to be significant for the promotion of studies in Poland. In conclusion, Wiesław Tarka, Ambassador of Poland in Sweden, admitted that he plans to organise more such meetings in future.
