“New perspectives in pedodontics” was the theme of the 4th Conference of the Polish Academy of Pediatric Dentistry held on 7-8 April 2017 in Warsaw. The event was organized in cooperation with the European Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the Department of Paediatric Dentistry of the Medical University of Gdańsk. The conference was addressed to pedodontists, but also to all dental practitioners who are involved in the treatment of children and adolescents. There were 245 participants, including guests from Sweden, Belgium, Ukraine, Israel, Germany and Greece.
The inaugural lecture on local anesthesia in pedodontics was delivered by Michał Sobczak M.D. Ph.D. and another lecturers included prof. Rita Cauwels (Belgium), the current president of the European Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, prof. Katarzyna Emerich M.D. Ph.D. (Gdańsk), Dariusz Rokicki M.D. Ph. D. (Warsaw) and Kinga Grzech-Leśniak M.D. Ph. D. (Warsaw). The event was also accompanied by a scientific session during which participants presented interesting cases of their own practice. Particular attention was paid to the assistants of the Department of Paediatric Dentistry of the MUG. The participants could also hear two lectures by Nicki Lygidakis M.D. Ph.D. (Greece), who talked about the contemporary therapeutic approach in various developmental disorders of teeth. Prof. Norbert Kramer (Germany) in his presentations focused on caries prophylaxis and minimally invasive methods of caries treatment, as well as prof. Anna Fuks (Israel) and prof. Benjamin Peretza (Israel), the two authors of the latest book devoted to the subject of endodontic treatment of children presented their point of view on the topic.
