The Brain Awareness Week (BAW) is already behind us. On this occasion, the Polish Pharmaceutical Students’ Association (PPSA) Gdańsk Branch prepared numerous activities. At the Faculty of Pharmacy students organised a special stand which changed its character every day. Visitors could draw riddles, solve a mystery of the day, do crosswords or treat yourself to delicious cookies or peanuts. On the 15th of March, students from the Neurosurgery Scientific Circle delivered a presentation “Neurostimulation. Is it possible to wake up from the coma”. Students of the Faculty of Medicine talked about the brain stimulation process and pointed out that a coma is not the only condition that a patient can experience. On the next day, Anna Kowalska, a medical representative of Nutricia Polska, talked about how important is a diet for patients who stay in hospitals, especially after a stroke. On the 17th of March, members of PTSF Oddział Gdańsk visited the Senior House at 24 Fromborska street in Gdańsk. They delivered a short presentation about their activities and the BAW campaign, as well as played games and did crosswords with the residents of the Senior House.
The Brain Awareness Week is a global campaign to increase public awareness of the progress and benefits of brain research. Every March, the BAW unites the efforts of different organizations worldwide in a celebration of the brain for people of all ages. The next BAW campaign is planned for March 12-18, 2018.
