Students from the English Division Pediatric Oncology Scientific Circle, supervised by Ewa Bień MD, PhD and Małgorzata Krawczyk MD, won an awards during the 24nd International Student Scientific Conference for Students and Young Doctors. The conference took place on April 27-29 2016 in Gdańsk, and the panel of judges awarded the following presentations:
1. “Pulmonary Anthracosis mimicking Lung Metastases in a Child with Orbital Rhabdomyosarcosis” – Freshta Mohammad (presenting author), Anna Shishkina, Caecilia Paradis – 1st place at the Case Report Non-Surgical Session;
2. “Ovarian Cancer in Children – A Challenge for Diagnosis and Therapy” – Agnieszka Mrozińska (presenting author), Natalie Stec, Boris Warszawski & Emil Lundström – distinction at the Paediatrics and Gynaecology Session.
3. “The Prognostic Role of Tumour Fibronectin Expression in Paediatric Rhabdomyosarcoma” – Natalie Stec (presenting author), Sarah Khalid, Natalia Cwalina – distinction at the Paediatrics and Gynaecology Session.
Since May 2011, the Circle has been functioning at the Department of Pediatrics, Hematology and Oncology. Currently it is the most active scientific club for MUG English Division students.
