Blood glucose and cholesterol tests, learning breast self-examination, tips on how to quit smoking, first aid workshop, dental examination, thyroid ultrasound and drawing contests all free of chargé are just some of the attractions organized by the Medical University of Gdańsk during this year’s edition of the MUG Health Picnic.

The event will take place on Friday June 13th between 11:00 and 16:00 at the park located along ulica Skłodowskiej-Curie.

All-time favorites such as the emergency medical response to a car accident and outdoor fitness training will also take place this year. The Pomorskie Center of Speech and Hearing is invited to conduct hearing screening tests and will offer speech and psychology consultations. At noon, hungry visitors will be treated to mercimek corbasi, that is lentil soup.

Students from the Scientific Club at the MUG Department of Emergency Medicine will print rescue sheets for all those who are interested (while the supplies last). A rescue sheet is a sticker no larger than a box of matches on the windshield of your car and a A4-size sheet of paper might save your life. That is the goal of the “Karty ratownicze” (“Rescue sheet on board”) project conducted in Poland by Związek Dealerów Samochodów (Association of Car Dealers) under the patronage of Państwowa Straż Pożarna (State Fire Service). The above-mentioned sheet of paper contains the details about your particular car’s structural elements, airbag system and location of electric batteries. In case of an accident, thanks to this information the firefighters will save precious time while extracting you and the passengers from the damaged car.
