The Dawca.pl campaign began a 3 weeks-long event promoting organ donation. On January 25th 2015, volunteers encouraged passengers at the Warszawa Centralna railway station to take pictures with organs (heart, lungs, kidney, liver) at the photobooth, tag them with #giveyourheart and share via social applications.
Using a non-conventional campaign we want to encourage Twitter and Instagram users to donate virtual hearts and at the same time point attention to the issues surrounding organ donation” – explains Paweł Klikowicz, Dawca.pl spokesperson.
Taking a portrait photo with an outstretched hand and posting it on Instagram suggests donating a heart to another person. In addition, the online application at dawca.pl/oddajserce automatically uploads pictures tagged #giveyourheart or #oddajserce in order to create a virtual heart on which portraits can be found and shared.
Next stops on the Dawca.pl campaign trail are: Kraków Główny (February 7th) and Wrocław Główny (February 14th).
Dawca.pl (meaning “donor.pl”) is a public campaign promoting informed donation of organs, bone marrow and blood. Its main goal is to increase the Polish society’s knowledge about transplantation procedures, leading to greater acceptance of transplantation. This campaign is conducted by a group of students from Gdańsk (mostly MUG) who volunteer their time. On their website you can print a declaration of donorship of your organs.
