The 9th annual Picnic for Health is behind us

Over 60 booths, several thousand of medical tests, several hundred of medical consultations, art contests using the Bambino brand art supplies donated by St. Majewski Spółka Akcyjna Sp. k., healthy food and lots of fun – that summarizes the 9th edition of the Picnic for Health organized by the MUG on June 14th 2014.

Visitors were able to measure their blood glucose levels (using glucometers donated by Roche Diagnostics Polska), blood cholesterol levels, measure their blood pressure with equipment donated by Paul Hartmann Polska, learn breast self-examination, practice first aid skills including the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED, purchased with the help of EDF Polska), get advice on how to quit smoking and even learn surgical suturing all free of charge.

Once again, the accident response scenario captured the visitors’ attention. Whereas one of the most popular events this year was the free testing for the anti-HCV antibodies. This testing is conducted within the campaign “HCV – the silent killer, your ignorance keeps it alive” (“Cichy Zabójca WZW C. Działa w ukryciu. Twoja niewiedza utrzymuje go przy życiu”). During the Picnic every healthy person ages 18-50 had the possibility to register as a potential bone marrow donor.

At the booth organized by the Department of Physiotherapy parents could find out which backpacks are safe for their kids’ spines and participate in a contest where among the prizes were backpacks donated by St. Majewski Spółka Akcyjna Sp. k.
