Medicine like you've never seen before

Which parasites have an enormous appetite and which could beat olympic records? What happens to the human body after drinking alcohol? How is medication produced? Those are just some of the topics that will be explained during the 7th edition of the Medical Science Day which will be held today, May 23rd from 9:00 to 13:00 at the Collegium Biomedicum building. The Medical Science Day is part of the Baltic Science Festival and is the largest event promoting medical sciences to the children and youth of the Pomorskie province.

The mini-lectures and lab experiment demonstrations will take place along with workshops and free medical tests. Together with the little scientists you will be able to find out how simple cosmetics are made, how to safely remove ticks, how to dispose of expired medication and how to fight obesity in children.

Among the new events this year, there will be a demonstration of artificial smog, measuring air quality and learning how to secure airways. Of course the old favorites will also be featured: surgical suturing, first aid course and tours of the experimental animal lab. Students of the nutrition program will provide tasty and healthy snacks. Admission is free of charge.
