Christmas Carols Evening at the Invasive Medicine Center

27.01.2014

On January 21st more than 150 people took part in an evening of English Christmas carols and American Christmas songs. The event was organized by the MUG Department of Foreign Languages and took place in the 2nd floor hall of the Invasive Medicine Centre.

What was very special about the evening was that everybody was invited to sing. Ms Beata Cygan, Ph.D. (Head of the Department of Foreign Languages) invited Mr Adam Niedorezo to provide professional accompaniment on the white grand piano lent by prof. Janusz Jaśkiewicz (Department of Oncologic Surgery).

The Student Vocal Quartet interpreted the carols with passion. The members of the Quartet were: Ms Sławka Misiewicz and Ms Beata Pełczyńska (Master’s of nursing program), Ms Katarzyna Ptaszyńska and Mr Michał Stopa (paramedic program). They successfully encouraged the audience to sing and supported them during the difficult musical phrases. As the lyrics were shown on the screen, it was possible to present to the audience some of the less popular yet beautiful Christmas carols.

The organizers would like to express their gratitude to Ms Magda Warzocha, M.A. for the decorative presentation of the lyrics.

The Foreign Languages Department was ready for the occasion and some carols were sung in German (thanks to Ms Stefania Sychta, M.A.), French and Spanish (thanks to Ms Bożena Jakimczyk,M.A.) and in Latin (Ms Hanna Bednarczyk-Szulc, M.A.) and amazingly, the carol in this now forgotten language sounded beautifully.

Ms Elżbieta Perepeczko, M.A., was the coordinator of the project, an event enriching this University’s tradition.
