Little scientists operated on a teddy bear

21.11.2013

Operating on a teddy bear was the main attraction during the recent edition of GUMed Kids, a series of events for little scientists. Over 250 children participated in the the activities on November 15th 2013. The first lecture was delivered by Szymon Hofman (10 years old) who introduced the audience to one of the most advanced and free educational systems khanacademy.org and convinced the audience that mathematics are a lot of fun. Whereas dr hab. Stanisław Hać (MUG Department of General, Endocrine and Transplant Surgery) told the children about the secrets of being a surgeon and invited them to perform an operation on a teddy bear. The little surgeons did an excellent job – the operation was successful.

The next edition of GUMed Kids will take place on December 13th and will be conducted by dr Michał Brzeziński and prof. Barbara Kamińska, both from the MUG Department of Pediatrics, Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. The GUMed Kids events are part of the Polska Akademia Dzieci (Children’s Academy of Poland), coordinated by prof. Alicja Dębska-Ślizień (content coordinator) and dr Agnieszka Brandt (logistic coordinator).
