A gala performance of the musical “Evita” led by Rafał Kłoczko, graduate of the conducting program, was the highlight of the ceremony inaugurating the academic year on October 8th at the Music Academy of Gdańsk. The event was a joint ceremony of the universities belonging to the Pomorskie Voivodeship Rectors’ Council and featured speeches by the council chairman prof. Janusz Moryś and the marshal of the pomorskie voivodeship Hanna Zych-Cisoń.
During the ceremony, the rectors took the opportunity to present awards to exceptional students and graduates. The prof. Romuald Szczęsny Award for the best thesis at the Gdańsk University of Technology went to inż. Maciej Klein (1st place) and mgr inż. Marcin Przedwojewski (distinction). Prof. Bernard Lammek, rector of the University of Gdańsk, presented Piotr Karaś an award for his top scores during this year’s recruitment. Prof. Jerzy Kojkoł, vice-rector for education at the Navy Academy in Gdynia awarded Michał Maliński for his activity in the student government and community service. Weronika Kulpa, the top graduate of the Music Academy of Gdańsk in 2012/2013, received congratulations of the rector prof. Maciej Sobczak. Whereas prof. Janusz Moryś congratulated the top MUG graduates who received the Pimus Interpares medal: Patrycja Saganowska (Faculty of Pharmacy), Monika Luboch (Faculty of Medicine) and Monika Tkacz (Faculty of Health Sciences).
