Paweł Bieniasz-Krzywiec, 2nd year student of the Masters Programme at the MUG-UG Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology was awarded for best presentation at the prof. Jerzy Popinigis contest during the 8th Forum on Oxidative Stress and Aging which took place on June 12-14 in Bologna, Italy.

Young scientists from Poland and Italy participated in the contest organized by prof. Michał Woźniak (MUG Department of Medical Chemistry) and prof. Giorgio Lenaz (Università di Bologna), whereas the panel of judges consisted of specialists from Holland, Italy, Japan and Poland.

Mr. Bieniasz-Krzywiec’ winning presentation “Impact of cell culturing conditions on expression of nitrosooxidative stress-induced genes in cellular model of Osteosarcoma” is part of the project “Novel three-dimensional osteosarcoma and osteoblast cultures influence oxidative and nitrosative stress and regulate changes in expression of growth factor receptors in cultures supplemented with growth factors” which is made possible by the EU-financed HOMING PLUS program.

The project’s advisors are dr Karolina Siwicka (MUG Department of Medical Chemistry) and prof. Michał Żmijewski (MUG Department of Histology).
