On April 19-21st 2013, an „Euroson School CEUS” ultrasound course endorsed by the EFSUMB (European Federation of Societies for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology) took place in Old Town Gdańsk. This course was organized by dr. Wojciech Kosiak with his team from the Ultrasound Lab at the MUG Department of Pediatrics, Hematology and Oncology. MUG Rector prof. Janusz Moryś was the event’s honorary patron. The subject of this course was the clinical use of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS). Among the course instructors were representatives of many leading European USG centers: Jan Tuma (Zürich, Switzerland), Hans Peter Weskott (Hannover, Germany), Zoltan Harkanyi (Budapest), Božena Novakova (Košice, Slovakia), Gebhard Mathis (Rankweil, Austria), Andrzej Lewicki (Warszawa), Christian Greis i Dirk Clevert (München, Germany) as well as Tomasz Batko, Wojciech Kosiak and Maciej Piskunowicz. Besides doctors and medical students from Poland, among the participants were ultrasonographers from Austria and Gret Britain. In the unique facilities of the Baltic Philharmonic in Gdańsk, the participants gained knowledge about this safe and rapidly developing area of diagnostic imaging. The Ultrasound and Biopsy Diagnostics Lab led by dr. Kosiak is one of the few centers in Europe (and the only one in Poland) where contrast-enhanced ultrasound is performed. The course participants received certificates of the EFSUMB as well as the Polish Ultrasound Society.
