On Sunday February 24th 2013 between 11:00 and 14:00, a breast cancer prevention event “Don’t miss out! Stamp breast cancer” (“Nie bądź gapa! Skasuj raka”) will take place on board a historic tram. Anyone can ride the tram free of charge and learn how to correctly self-examine breasts. Every passenger will receive a pamphlet with detailed instructions. Volunteers will be on board to answer questions and clarify and confusion about breast cancer screening tests, where to seek a consultation with a specialist and what kind of treatment may be involved in case noticing a change in the breast tissue.
The tram will stop at the following stops in Gdansk: Brama Wyżynna – Dworzec Główny – Brama Oliwska – Chodowieckiego – Uniwersytet Medyczny – Traugutta – Opera Bałtycka – Politechnika – Miszewskiego – Jaśkowa Dolina – Klonowa – Galeria Bałtycka – Wojska Polskiego – Zamenhofa – Zajezdnia – Abrahama – Uniwersytet – Bażyńskiego – Tetmajera – Derdowskiego – Obrońców Westerplatte – Oliwa – Opacka – Subisława – Pomorska – Piastowska – Jagiellońska – Chłopska – Kołobrzeska – Zaspa – Startowa – Jana Pawła II – Żwirki i Wigury – Bajana – Legionów – Pl. The first passengers will be rewarded with sweets.
This event is organized by the MUG Oncologic Surgery Student Scientific Club in cooperation with the Academic Oncology Society. The aim of this event is to increase awareness of breast cancer among the female residents of Gdańsk. It is one of several events organized as part of the “Touch the Breast” (“Dotknij Piersi”) project dedicated to train women about oncologic self-examination and self-monitoring.
