Students taught how to take care of health

Another project of the MUG’s University Student Government (USS) is behind us, in which medical and pharmacy students Martyna Komorniczak, Wiktoria Ziembakowska, Monika Probst, Inga Rozumowicz, Joanna Adamczyk and Iga Wawrzyniak jointly carried out a social campaign entitled Health in Harmony, culminated in the preparing of a thematic stand on 16th of March 2024 in the Forum Shopping Center in Gdańsk. The event was held under the patronage of the Rector of MUG Prof. Marcin Gruchała.
For several days preceding the exhibition of the stand, both through an online campaign planned and approved by all project partners, as well as direct conversations, the organizers promoted mental health, physical activity and preventive research among MUG students and Tri-City residents.
Thanks to the support of Paulina Piechowiak from the Division of Clinical Psychology of the Medical University of Gdańsk and psychologists from the FOSA Foundation, the substantive partner of the campaign, a knowledge quiz was developed, which enjoyed great interest. Since the beginning of the event at the Forum Shopping Center in Gdańsk, the MUG’s point has been visited by many people of different ages – sometimes entire families.
– What surprised us the most was the age-diverse group of participants and their positive comments about promoting the topic of health but in three different areas. Depending on their gender and age, our interlocutors emphasized how important well-being, sports, and disease prevention are in their lives – said Martyna Komorniczak, 2nd year medical student of the MUG. – Of course, the older the interlocutor was, the greater was his awareness of the campaign and the willingness to share specific examples from their lives with MUG’s students – confirming the validity of the action.
As the event organizers emphasized, the children really enjoyed the quiz tasks and the positive and joyful approach of the MUG students. In addition to talking, they tried to have fun with the questions and answers. The winners of the quiz received prizes – university gadgets donated by MUG for the campaign.
