The best in Polish medicine and health care

Scientists of the Medical University of Gdańsk are again among the most influential people in Polish medicine. Prof. Marcin Gruchała, the Rector of our University, Head of the 1st Department of Cardiology of the Medical University of Gdańsk, Chairman of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Medical Universities in the term 2020-2024, took a high 3rd place on the Lista 100/List of 100, while Prof. Jacek Jassem from the Department of Oncology & Radiotherapy, Chairman of the board of the Polish League Against Cancer, chairman of the Central and East European Oncology Group, was ranked 6th. The plebiscite was organised by the editors of Puls Medycyny.

The list of the most influential people in Polish medicine also includes: in 17th place, Prof. Bartosz Karaszewski, Head of the Department of Neurology, Head of the Brain Diseases Centre of the MUG, President-elect of the Brain Vascular Diseases Section of the Polish Neurological Society, and in 26th place, Prof. Rafał Dziadziuszko, Head of the Department of Oncology & Radiotherapy of the MUG. Prof. Krzysztof Narkiewicz, Head of the Department of Hypertension & Diabetology of the MUG, is ranked 28th. Also ranked at place 64 is Dr. Habil. Elżbieta Senkus-Konefka, Assoc. Prof. from the Department of Oncology & Radiotherapy of the MUG, and at place 72 Prof. Małgorzata Myśliwiec, Head of the Department of Paediatrics, Diabetology and Endocrinology, Board Member of the Polish Society of Diabetology and the Polish Society of Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetology. In 96th place, however, was Prof. Miłosz Jaguszewski from the 1st Department of Cardiology of the MUG.

In the Health Care System category, Prof. Piotr Czauderna, Head of the Department of Surgery and Urology for Children and Adolescents of the MUG, President of the Paediatric Surgery Section of the Union of European Medical Specialists, and chairman of the National Development Council’s Health Care Council, was ranked 71st. Place 90 went to Prof. Agnieszka Zimmermann, Vice-Rector for the Quality of Teaching, Head of the Division of Medical and Pharmacy Law of the MUG, Deputy President of the Polish Pharmaceutical Society; President of the Pharmaceutical Law Section of the PTFarm. Place 91 went to Prof. Jarosław Sławek, Head of the Division of Neurological and Psychiatric Nursing of the MUG.
