Gabrielle Karpinsky, VI year English Division medical student and member of the Phi Delta Epsilon Fraternity, won the award for the Best Student in the Pomorskie region. As part of her award, she received a VW Up! automobile. She is the co-author of several research articles, including “Świeże spojrzenie na plamicę Henocha-Schönleina. Porównanie przebiegu choroby, powikłań u dzieci i dorosłych w świetle najnowszych doniesień”. Three of her projects were recognized at the International Student Scientific Conference in 2014 and 2015. In addition, she co-organized several community service projects such as toy drive, fundraising party etc.
Whereas the English Division Pediatric Oncology Scientific Circle won in the Best Student Scientific Circle category and received a 12000zł grant. The Cirlce is supervised by dr hab. Ewa Bień and dr Małgorzata Krawczyk.
The Circle initiated, organized and continues to conduct an education project “Fun with English” for children with neoplasms and their families, conducts a project aimed at assessing the mental and somatic health of the little patients’ parents and siblings. It was the first time in the Award’s history that an English Division students, individually and as a Student Circle, won in both categories. Whereas the 1999 edition was the last time when a student and a Circle from the same university won both awards.
This was the 41st Red Rose Award ceremony and it took place on May 24th at Dwór Artusa in Old Town Gdańsk.
