The medical students from the Pediatric Oncology Scientific Circle at the MUG Pediatrics, Hematology and Oncology Clinic organized the annual Christmas celebration at the ward for the third time. Together with their guardians and the students, the little patients painted and decorated ornaments for the Christmas tree and decorated gingerbread cookies. The children were most enthusiastic about the game of bowling they played in the hallway of the Clinic. The Christmas atmosphere was highlighted by a concert of Christmas carols and songs by the students accompanied on the keyboard by Ania, one of the patients of the ward. Ania’s duet with Sidra Sohail (MUG student from the UK) was an emotional moment for all the listeners. And of course no Christmas would be complete without a visit by a bearded Santa Claus, this year performed by Boris (medical student from the USA). All patients received presents, including those who could not take part in the celebration due to their clinical and immunological status. The students met with all patients and entertained them at the bedside. This year’s Christmas presents were purchased with money raised by the students from the Circle as well as the MUG ED Choir.
