Mysteries from the Museum Shelf

9.01.2017

The exam session is approaching , so it is good time to look into students’ notes. This month we present two examples of students’ notes from the Museum of Medical University of Gdańsk as a part of the Mysteries on the Museum Shelf series. We do not know who was the owner of the first notebook but judging after the content – notes from a practical physiology class work – we can conclude that they belonged to a student of the second year (1965-1966). The shown note dates back to October 18th, 1965, and refers to a heart rate of a frog. Apart from the description of the whole experiment we can see the result recorded by a kymograph.

The second note book belonged to Adam Bilikiewicz, a student of the first year of the Medicine Faculty, who during the academic year 1951-1952 attended a histology course (notes’ date February 27th,1952) Noteworthy are readable drawings, which reveal his artistic talent.
